My grandpa Told me a story of a Beach in the shape of a halo Floating Like a memory of seafoam Green from a toxic wastehole Buried in the deep blue sea A half-life away from me Buried in the deep blue sea A dome made of concrete Come for the coral reef and Wait for the fallout Surf with me now buddy Enewetak Atoll My grandpa Told me another story This one was after the war though 1970 Was the year a tree fell on me Somewhere in the Alleghenies Barely even listening I asked “what about that beach? Tell me more about this ring” This whole thing is haunting me! Come for the coral reef and Wait for the fallout Surf with me now buddy Enewetak Atoll We don’t talk at all about Enewetak Atoll, How come We don’t talk at all about Enewetak Atoll?

Speak now Don’t gather a crowd There’s no time to weep I look at my feet Feelin’ I should write this down The times that we had But what we had has evaporated Driving up The last leg Taking a trip around I’ll be leavin’ for Cleveland Gonna leave my smalltown We drown Outside is allowed There’s no time to sleep, we’ll Turn around, we’ll Just turn around now Gathering the harvest you sewed A patch upon the sweater that I borrow Reads, “every little piece I have must go” Cuz now I’m free When I listened to your lectures I would grown I busy paving over this old road When I Should’ve just quietly followed Down the path you cleared for me Speak speak to me I swear I heard you talking in your sleep But it’s hard to communicate When you’re all the way up in the family tree Gathering the harvest you sewed A patch upon the sweater that I borrow Reads, “every little piece I have must go” Cuz now I’m free When I listened to your lectures I would grown I busy paving over this old road When I Should’ve just quietly followed Down the path you cleared for me

Grace 03:50
When my mother almost died With family by her side You were always near Your foundation anchoring A place for me to cling To keep me safe from fear And as time seemed to stand You were an outreached hand While I was drowning And when I lost my way I felt your anchor’s weight Would keep me grounded And I can hear you Call for me Call for me When I heard your spirit passed On a hospital mattress With family by your side I called my cousin Harrison Who was with you when Heaven opened wide Mother’s Day cards on your nightstand You felt an outreached hand - hovering And when Amazing Grace was played The hand it touched your face - lovingly I can hear you Call for me Call for me

When I was kid I didn’t realize it You were always on my side Now I admit And even sympathize with Just how much you sacrificed The little things went so unnoticed The little things can bring you down Just wish I could meet you again now Wish I could get rid Of all the background noises That danced around Inside your head And share this gift Without you’d it’d be voiceless There’s a lot I should have said The little things went so unnoticed The little things can bring you down Just wish I could meet you again now I can’t wait to Meet you on the other side I can’t wait to Meet you on the other side That’s ok, I can’t wait awhile To meet you on the other side

about

Some of you already know that I lost three of my grandparents in a ten month span (May 2020 - March 2021). Under normal circumstances, this would be a difficult thing to grieve. During a worldwide pandemic, it was nearly impossible.

In an effort to grieve the loss of the three, plus a fourth that passed away in November 2017, I wrote and recorded this group of songs.

This album is a memoriam to my grandparents.
